Our conservator Kateřina Doležalová will present Josef Sudek's negatives as part of the masterclass course Paper, Glass and Plastic: Identification and Care of Photographic Negatives, led by Monique Fischer, at the American Academy in Rome from 3–4 May 2018.
On Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at 6.30pm, the book Instant Presence. Representing Art in Photography will be launched at the ArtMap bookstore in Prague. The publication, devoted to the topic of photographing art works and the oeuvre of Josef Sudek, will be oficially launched by the director of the Institute of Art History of the Czech Academy of Sciences, Tomáš Winter, and the editors Hana Buddeus, Katarína Mašterová and Vojtěch Lahoda. It is our pleasure to announce the release of our new book Instant Presence: Representing Art in Photography which was published at the end of 2017 in the Artefactum publishing house of the Institute of Art History of the Czech Academy of Sciences where you can also get your copy. Almost one hundred color reproductions and numerous texts by internationally recognized experts are hidden under its simple cover.
The workshop will be held on 1 November 2017 in Academic conference centre, Husova 4a, Praha 1 from 9 AM till 1 PM. It will focus on the issues surrounding copyright laws as they relate to the publication of photographs of art works. It will clarify the legal aspects and responsibilities of archival institutions, and offer solutions to specific case studies. For more information click HERE.
